Apple Bloom Learns The Family Business by Obsequiosity Apple Bloom Learns The Family Business by Obsequiosity
Of two things I am certain:
1) The apple trees in MLP:FiM have ridiculously stout trunks compared to real apple trees.
2) Pork smoked over apple wood is delicious.

You cannot refute my head canon.

Bacon doesn't count against the vegetarian diet. Such is the power of its magic.

You know what? You're welcome, not many people thank others for commenting, and I for one appreciate it, I mean Bacon is perfect for everything, Ever had a Bacon Cream Cheese danish? I have. I learned the meaning of Friendship that day and it was delicous.

Thayt being said Apple wood is a very good smoking product. Ever had Apple smoked Cheddar? You have not lived until you've had apple smoked cheddar.

Everyone's vegetarian in Equestria. They're ponies after all. So why do the Apples keep pigs?

Modern apple farms usually use dwarf trees, but older methods of apple harvesting could produce trees that are as big as the Apple family's trees. Equestria's technology has been shown to be a bit farther back. They have trains, but not cars (other than flim and flam). I'd put Equestria at around the turn of the 20th century as far as tech and the apple family's farming techniques (and poverty) reflect that. Granted, apple bucking is a terrible way to harvest apples for anything but apple cider. Bruises and all...

Good point. (Always wanted to draw a John Henry style story with Big Mac vs one of those turn of the century stream powered Case tractors, or possibly a Moline/Caterpillar...

Even vegetarians make an exception for bacon. Bacon is universal, and meant for the enjoyment of all.

Trendy Manehattanites, it appears. Cut it thick, dip it in chocolate, sell it as "Cacao-Infused Prosciutto", watch the bits roll in.

I always imagined that they were sold to Gryphons.

(Though, sheep and cows talk, so is that like sentient slavery? )

The cows appear to be free to come at go at will, and can even shop in town (a courtesy only recently extended to zebras). The relationship with sheep is...complicated at best. At least none of the pigs have talked yet.

I understand that hipsters are stupid like that, but it's really not a good idea for an herbivorous species like ponies to do that.

It's not a good idea for herbivores to aspire to become something greater than what they were born into, to aspire to be... eaters of bacon?

My head canon is that the trunks are bred extra thick so they don't snap under the Apple family's powerful bucks. We've seen them legs stop carts, break carnival games, and pull houses.
